The program set that came with the fake Canadian pharmacy email (and a bunch of other fake emails) came with an attached malware that was designed to infect your computer. It wasn't a real business so much as a misdirection to distract you from paying attention while it opened weaknesses to your system.
For all of the drive-by downloads that could infect your computer, lots of them are pop-ups that suggest you remove the infection/check your computer. I make it a point to not click on these pop ups at all(I just close the program.) It also makes sense to not download from an unknown website.
