Decrypting in XP after repair install?

December 18, 2011 at 08:59:01
Specs: Windows XP, 4gb MB
I had my computer up and running for a while, and had a folder on the D: partition I created in case my windows partition ever got corrupted. Well one day the windows partition became unusable, and I did a repair install, and now I cant unlock my encrypted files on my D: drive. Can anyone tell me how to go about doing this? I tried to take ownership of the files, but that does not work.

"cant unlock my encrypted files"

What type of Encryption is it? did you use software to encrypt like TrueCrypt?
If you did, you'll need the same software to access the encrypted files then decrypt it.

If not and it just seems broken, Try this
Hopefully it can restore your partition and make it useable again.

Did you create a new user profile? You can only unencrypt the files if you use exactly the same profile that you encrypted them with. Encryption often causes more problems than it solves.
