CPU constantly at 100%

April 16, 2018 at 15:24:46
Specs: Windows 10, Intel M7 1.2GHz / 16 gigs ram
So I really need help and I would like it quick. I don't know exactly what happened, but I believe it might be some sort of malware. Even when I have nothing open, my task manager shows that my CPU is at a constant 100%.

But if I go to the "users" tab, it shows that my account is only using about 50% of the CPU on average, and it shows no other accounts being open

I do believe this is malware caused, since nothing is showing p, but yet processes are running, if anyone can help me clear this problem I would be greatly appreciative.

PS, I THINK THIS IS IMPORTANT, after about 5 - 10 minutes my cpu is back to normal, there is still about a 10% difference, my account is using about 20%, and it shows 30% overall

In Task Manager > Processes, do you have the boxed checked for Show processes from all users?

Do you have decent virus/malware protection? Do you run a cleaner? Have you checked & managed your startup apps? Start by running AdwCleaner: https://www.malwarebytes.com/adwcle...

I do have the box checked, and it does show that the only processes are from my account, and I also have disabled most startup processes.
Ill try the cleaner, thank you

What processes are running high CPU???
Did you install something recently new?
Is there any network traffic: If you turn of your network, does it stop?

Also, what antivirus program are you using? Some will start scanning without warning and use a lot of system resources, when they finish it all goes back to normal. Some are much worse than others as far as system resources are concerned.

You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.

Microsoft anti-spyware executable?
disabled mine, since it would also randomly max out one of my 4 cores
im guessing you have a dual core CPU

cant you see in task manager what process is taking all the cpu time?
