Computer won't logon

Gateway Laptop with amd athlon x2 dual-c...
July 21, 2010 at 05:22:03
Specs: Windows Vista, pentium 4
There was an issue of my background and favorites changing for some reason, so I did a system restore. Well, now I cannot get on the computer. I get this message "The group policy client service failed the logon, access is denied". This is not a networked computer, just for home use. Now it will go in, in safe mode, but I don't know what to do to fix this when I get in. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

you can make up a vista recovery disc (probably on a different PC) and use it on the problem PC:

There has to be an easier way.

"Well, now I cannot get on the computer."

Isn't that what you said?
But you also said you can get into safe mode...a bit of a conflict there I would say. If you can get into safemode, UNDO the system restore you did.

I will try that. I also turned on the guest user and I can access the computer that way. So now I am wondering if it has something to do with the main user. Any thoughts?
