computer won't accept password

Specs: Windows Vista
i just installed a wireless mouse on my laptop, hp pavillion notebook, windows 7. right afterwards, my computer goes to the very first screen where i have to type in my password in order to open my computer. when i put in the correct password, it says password incorrect. im locked out. im on my desktop right now. my laptop gives me a password hint. i am putting the right password in. any ideas? im kinda freaking out here.

Why not just remove that as it is apparently causing problems, then tap f8 on bootup and try to get in to safe mode.

omygoodness! i LOVE you. that worked. do you think if i go back to using the new wireless mouse it will lock me out again?

Try it and if it's still a problem, get rid of the wireless and use a USB optical mouse ;-)

i actually did install a usb optical mouse. and i used it again after the reboot and no more problems. thank goodness there are people (are you a guy?) like you that help others with computer problems. i was in full panic mode when it was locked. and you saved me. thanks again for helping me. i will definitely bookmark this site for future visits.
