Computer Shuts off in minutes

Specs: Windows Vista
Alright, today when I got home by Acer Extensa 5630Z was working perfectly fine, I plug in my friend's iPod Nano and suddenly it's messing up!
My computer literally shuts down within minutes of starting it up! It only works in safe mode (which I am currently using)
I believe it is a virus, but my Norton Antivirus is having problems and won't scan!
So I would like to know exactly what I could do to get my Norton (and then the system) working fine. It was fine up until I plugged the iPod in

Try panda cloud antivirus, it's pretty good, it's small, and it's constantly updated as it runs virus definitions live from the web.

Hi,
Run the Anti-Virus in safe mode. (Bitdefender and Avast are good). After cleaning with Anti-Virus, reboot your machine. Now you may need to install repair using the Windows Vista disk.

P.S: Run only one Anti-Virus at a time. Running two different Anti-Virus will not help you anyway.

Thank you :)
