Computer running VERY slow - virus

Specs: Windows XP, Intel Pentium 2GB RAM

Yesterday morning all the sudden my laptop started running REALLY slow. I rebooted and it had some trouble rebooting, telling me that there was a foreign item in a module - had no idea what that could have been. Finally took battery out and replaced and was able to reboot.

However, I'm running at 100% CPU most of the time when I check Task Manager. Have run Sophos Antivirus - took more than 12 hours to run. It found one Adware called MyWebSearch but when I googled this, it seems to relate to some things I've had on my computer for a while, however I did have Sophos clean it up. Need to restart, but am in middle of Spybot (see below) so haven't been able to yet.

Have run CleanUp! this morning. Also started SpyBot this morning - it's been running now for about 11 hours and is just over 1/2 done. No problems detected so far.

Whatever it is 'seems' to have started Intel PROSet/Wireless as there is now the green icon in my task bar and I don't recall it there previously. I believe I had another wireless control running my wireless - sorry, not completely sure as I had someone help me with that, however I don't remember this icon down there. I now have 2 different icons that both appear to be running my wireless.
