I am running Windows Xp on a Dell Inspiron 600m. I ran a previous scan with Avast and the results is I have a virus in my C/Volume system. My computer freezes up while I am watching movies. How do I get rid of this virus hidding in my pc? I thought my anti-virus program is supposed to be the first thing that loads up when I boot my pc? The volume icon is the first thing that loads up. Thanks in advance.

louis hill,

Have you tried doing a Boot-time scan with avast!:

Just need to make sure there is nothing else there.

Post back on how that goes, and we will take it from there.
