cmos.a remover

Specs: Windows XP, penitum 4/3.0
hello, everyday security essentials has 3 or 4 hits of dos/cmos.a virus hit it. how can i get rid of this virus. looked, but everything is from 2004-06. i have a dell xps 400 desktop. any help would be graciously accepted. thank you.

start with a full scan using malwarebytes and fix all it finds

no help. it is still getting hit every hour on the hour, once the computer is started. there has got to be a way to stop this thing. it is the cmos.a virus. from what i have read, this is an old virus, ya, essentials picks it up, but i want to gert rid of this. any other suggestions would be great. thanks.

well tried both programs, and no help. they all come up clean. why does it try hitting every hour on the hour, within a minute or so? it shows as an error code, 0x8007007f, looked it up, some sort of validation thing, not my problem. and it hit the system volume information\_restore{long number}. does that help at all.
