Closes Out All Programs

Toshiba / 2005
May 11, 2009 at 13:01:57
Specs: Windows XP
Please help me, my laptop has had viruses before, but I have not had any serious ones for a while now. When I went on about 2-3 weeks ago, I went to go on my iTunes and the internet. When I was listening to a song, the whole computer froze and I had to force shut down everything.

Whenever I try to open a program, (even something like iTunes) an 'error reporting' message box pops up. [looks like the ones you get when the interent stops working]

I would really appreciate your help with this, and I have had my uncle (who is awesome with computers, and has fixed mine many times before) try to fix it, but could not. I'm really frustrated about this and would be grateful to see how I could fix it. Thanks!!

"... I went on about 2-3 weeks ago, I went to go on my iTunes and..."

... tap "F8" key @ boot-up select "safe mode" using arrow keys [press ENTER]

... once in safe mode click "no" on the "pop-up" that should guide you to system restore

... select a restore point by altering the restore calendar to a time when the pc was working fine.
