Hi I am hoping someone can help me. I had a virus that is one of those ones where it tells you that you are infected and tries to dupe you into buying its anti virus program. I used malwarebytes anti-malware and rkill to get rid of it. And everything is back to normal except now I can't upload photos to photo sharing sites. I can still upload to facebook, myspace, gmail etc. But sites like photobucket and imageshack say the upload failed. I use windows XP and have tried fixing it already by updating to the latest firefox, java and flash but to no avail. I have also turned on and turned off my proxy server and it doesn't work either way. I'm really hoping someone can help me with this, I am a photographer and uploading photos is sort of a key necessity for me.

Try running these free trials and remove all they find:
1- Trojan Remover
2- Hitman Pro

I also noticed you didn't run tdss killer. You should run rkill.exe and then run Tdss Killer, you may still have an unwanted rootkit installed.

Also you didn't say which browser your were using, maybe try an alternate browser and see if you still can't use the problem sites you mentioned.

It worked! I can upload again! Hitman Pro specifically found some odd cookies entries and that IE was using a strange proxy server to connect to the internet. I use Firefox as a brower, but it seems that all is well now. Thank you so much for your help!

You can uninstall Trojan Remover and Hitman Pro after they run clean. Use the uninstaller in all programs, NOT add/remove because that won't uninstall them properly

I have the same issue and the suggested programs failed to solve it.
I had a virus same as the other fellow, fake virus scan. Removed it.
Now i cant upload images into photobucket or attach files in gmail.
I've run AVG and Hitman Pro. Hitman pro alerted me to a proxy issue in firefox, declared it repaired. Nothing changed. Please help.

try a full scan with malwarebytes in safe mode:
http://www.filehippo.com/download_m...
fix all it finds

If that doesn't fix the problem, you may want to try combofix:
http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/com...
Follow the instructions on the website

Thanks again. I'll give them a shot. I just feel like explaining, I don't download or "pirate" music by mainstream artists. I still believe in paying for the CD. I like having the CD and the insert art and case. I was trying to download a hard to find song that was never released officially and used in a film, thought I found it in a torrent...and the torrent turned out to be the virus. I used TDSSKiller to get rid of the IE proxy again, but I deleted IE for good. I never use it I don't know why I didn't get rid of it to begin with.
