Can't uninstall Akamai

July 6, 2010 at 08:48:11
Specs: Windows Vista
I have this program that appeared on my computer called Akamai. I cannot remember ever installing this program and no one else really uses this computer. I've looked a little online about what it is and what it does but it doesn't explain how it got onto my computer. Recently ive found out that its been uploading from my computer as i went to check my bandwidth. I stopped the service through the taskmanager and I denyed it access with the firewall. I looked into the resource monitor and there were multiple instances of this akamai there they were called "svchost.exe (Akamai). I was wondering how I could remove this program and if it can be harmfull to my computer. Upon reading on this subject I found out that the program should have been in the "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Akamai\AdminTool.exe" I went there to remove it but it was no where to be found, I had also tried to use the control panel to remove the program but it was not found there either. Can anyone help me remove this program?

On a side note my right key seems to be not functioning, it holds itself down at times, it would be nice if someone could also provide me with an answer as to why.

Thanks in advance

Akamai can be installed as part of another package, in the same way that BBC iPlayer installs Adobe AIR. You need to see what
programs have been installed recently that might use some sort of video streaming or content management. Have a look under
MSCONFIG to see if anything unusual is starting up automatically.

On the key issue, try blasting under the key with a can of compressed air.
