Asus 900hd netbook
April 6, 2010 at 20:02:14
Specs: Windows XP
I tried removing a virus from the netbook, but I think I also removed something that reads the system files. I cannot open: task manager, system restore, and most other important items. I tried running "msconfig" can't do that either. I do not have the recovery disk, and I don't know what else to try. Please help!

Nope I tried doing that, I can't do a control, atl, delete and when I tried to save the file from my other cpu - it wasn't an actual file it was information in notepad.

Lost-in-PCland, To get your Task Manager working try Method 1 or 2 at the link below.

http://windowsxp.mvps.org/Taskmanag...

As far as the exe file fix:

Go to that link again and instead of double clicking right click and choose Save Target As to download that reg file. Once you have that reg file on the problem computer right click it and choose merge.

Okay, I just tried option 1 and as with all the other files I try to open it opens the "Open With" box. As far as option 2, I would have to save it to a flash drive. I'm on an apple and I don't know how to save a file by right clicking. I'm new to apple and this computer is kinda old.
