Can't get rid of virus

Microsoft Windows vista home premium - 3...

Specs: Windows Vista
I got a virus while trying to watch a tv show online and now it causes random IE pages to open and feels like it is taking over my computer. Originally Spyware Doctor it found some trojans in my Sun Java cache and I deleted them, the problem is I still have the virus but AVG, Spyware Doctor and Malwarbytes' Anti Malware either can't find anything or when they find and delete it, it comes right back.

Any help would be appreciated.

Hi, Thanks.

I ran combofix.

I am not certain yet that the virus is gone. It has yet to redirect my browser but I need more time to be sure.

Should I post the log?

How hard would it be to reload the whole deal?

Part of the problem may be as simple as a few best practices to help avoid this in the future. Things like good firewalls and AV but also things like hosts files and using a limited user account and leaving on UAC help prevent this kind of problem.

"How hard would it be to reload the whole deal? "

Real HARD if you have 2 or more years of progs and info on the PC.
A clean machine makes sense, but not the trying to find old programs, etc and re-installing them. It could be an endless nightmare for most people.
