Cannot connect to server check network/proxy

Specs: Windows XP
I just purchased a software online called IObit Malware Fighter when i try to activate the license it gives me a message Cannot connect to our server, please check your network/proxy settings and try to validate your license later.

I know this sounds dumb, but did you call the tech support of the product you bought? I really think I would do that 1st.
Also just wondering why you ever bought that when the free Malwarebytes is probably just as good if not better.
