Can one hack and take control of my computer?

April 26, 2011 at 19:34:42
Specs: Windows 7
1. Mouse pointer moves in many directions that I am not moving.
2. Double clicking icons.
3. Click - View 100% in Word pad when I move the mouse pointer there or anywhere.
4. Highlight the text and sometimes the text gets rearranged.
5. Zooming of the text.

My questions are
1) Can anyone hack my computer without my knowledge and do the above.

2) These and more happens to my shock even when the wireless is turned off. Is it even possible for someone to hack when there is no network connection?

Please advice.

Thanks for your time.

just as a curiousity, have you tried a different mouse, these are possibly all connected to a defective mouse...also can try to reinstall the mouse driver

Is this a wireless mouse that runs on a battery? If the mouse is cordless, they have a battery that causes flukey things to happen when they get low on juice?

This is an inbuilt Sony Touchpad Synaptics mouse.
How do I reinstall the driver?

You download it from Sonys Support and drivers website, here's a link to it;

Also to help, if you are not connected to the internet you cannot be getting attacked, unless for example you still were connected to the router, but not the internet; someone could hack you from within your house...your home network, but not from the outside with no connection.

Is it possible for someone to hack when we are online without our knowledge?

The reason I am asking is my cursor continues to move up and double click, move down and click on one of the icons, drag content from one place to another etc., which are not simple mouse functions.

Any suggestions and insight would be very helpful.

Thanks for your time.

Have you tried plugging in a mouse and disabling the touchpad? And yes, if you are are online you can be hacked. Your best protection is a router, with the default username and password to the login on the router changed to something else.

that's unbelivable, but I am afraid yes, some one was controling your computer. But does this happens quite often. You can try to encrypt your computer
