Big honkin virus

Specs: Windows Vista
Hi I've got a huge virus on my PC. I've tried a bunch of free anti-virus software and nothing has worked so far. This virus has blocked access to task manager, control panel, and explorer. Now it is trying to block access to the internet. It has infected 1000's of files. What is the best anti-virus for the job?

Backup your data, format and reinstall. Then make sure you install a good anti-virus program before reconnecting the computer to the net.

My PC did not come with a CD with drivers. If I do a full reformat I will lose all my drivers. Ain't there an anti-virus that can get rid of big crap like this? Besides I got so much on my PC I would only like to reformat as a last resort.

Hi

have you tried Malwarebytes or superantispware you could also try one of the online virus scanners like eset onlinescan

It would help to have a bit more info as to what some of the main infections are as some infections need specialist removal tools, also what free antivirus software you have already tried.
