I have a bad virus that has took all my permissions and locked me out of gaining back any adminstrater privlages. it has blocked internet access, sys. restore and pretty much every outer means of getting rid of it. it is putting desktop.ini files and jpegs everywhere and changing file extensions on a lot of files. anyone out there have any advice?

If you're that limited as to what you can do, remove the HDD, and connect it to another computer. Backup your data, put the drive back in your computer, and format and reinstall.

Then, make sure you have a good anti-virus program installed.

I dont think you understand. At this point, I am not even concerned about my data. I would just be happy to get the pc going again. I dont think changing hard drives will help me at all. I am locked out of formating and all restor options. What I really need to know is if someone knows how to disable this virus so I can get the cleanup process started. I have tried everything I know to get arround the permissions eucluding Icacls, and some of trhe other cmd.exe options. Has know one out there run into a virus like this before?
