All search engines have been compromised!

Specs: Windows Vista
Any search engine I use seems to be conmpromised by a virus. Not sure what is going on, but when I search for something and click on the link, I get redirected to random sites. Any easy fix for this? I'm not the most computer savy person. Many thanks!

Hello there,

Open Notepad.
Copy and paste everything below into notepad:

@echo off
attrib -h -s -r hosts
echo localhost>HOSTS
attrib +r +h +s hosts
del %0

Go to File > Save As
Save file name as "reset.bat" <- Make sure not to include the quotes.
Change Save as Type to All Files and save the file to your desktop.
Now double click on the desktop "reset.bat" to run the batch file. It will self-delete when completed.

After doing this post back the results and let me know if it fixed the problem.

"I get redirected to random sites."
You could have installed an unwanted rootkit unknowingly;
Start by running these free tools in this order:
1- rkill.exe (kills the process)
2- tdss killer (removes the rootkit if it's there
3- Malwarebytes (do a full scan and remove all it finds)
4- Trojan Remover
5- Hitman Pro
Run them all till they are clean.

Some HELP in posting on plus free progs and instructions Cheers
