I have administrator access rights on my notebook computer. i dont use the administrator account. when i try to access certain directories from the hard drive (C:\) such as "documents and settings", I get "Access Is Denied" dialog box. Sometimes also on shortcuts the message comes up in a dialog box the header of which says, "location not available" with the same message.
How can this be when I am member of administrators group?
thanks,
Hi, How long you have been facing this issue?
Was it after bringing any changes in your machine or something (eg: installing any 3rd party application)
Can you access the C:/ drive in Safe mode?
Did you try sytem restore previous point. May be it would help you are lucky. Please get back to troubleshoot this issue further.
Thank you :)
i can access any drive except when i try to access via the "Documents and Settings" subdir/shortcut under drive C: the 'properties' shows it is accessible by everyone and even shows "full control"
it has a shortcut arrow on the icon. i dont know why it would even display if it cannot be accessed.
the message i get is "c:\Documents and Settings is not accessible" then "Access is Denied"
I also get this message when trying to restore files made in a bkf file from an XP machine on to this w7 machine.
i hve the files on an external usb drive. if i intro a drive onto my system as an admin it seems i should have admin access to it and its contents as well right?
