if i replace the hard drive on my old laptop and then redistribute it to someone else in my firm is there any possibility of them finding any information? I understand there is RAM.. does this store information for a long period of time and could they get any info from this?

RAM is volatile storage, that is the contents are lost when the computer is shut down.

"...you can completely and permanently remove all traces of previously deleted files..."

... sensitive data "may" be retrieved from your harddrive unless one takes preventative measures.

http://www.jetico.com/wiping-bcwipe/

... the above software will leave your operating system and other files intact depending on which function you select and has a 21 day trial period.

.................... I have no connection with the above software or jetico.com
