Solved 1-877-475-8845 locks my Edge

September 21, 2019 at 11:57:08
Specs: Windows 10, AMD A6 - 6GB
This "virus/malware ??" only affects my Edge browser. Internet Explorer and Chrome do not seem to be affected...so far. Two popups appear on Edge.."Virus Alert from Microsoft Windows"...states "this computer is blocked...etc". Second popup (on top of the 1st popup) "Windows Security Microsoft Edge.. this server "YTUQREMNASFJKHAFG.TK" is asking for your name and password. After rebooting, I tried Malwarebytes; ADW Cleaner; CCleaner… but it still comes back and locks Edge down. Help!!

Wellgo

Copy & Paste the contents of the logs in your reply please.

If still having problems after resetting Edge, I can go through these logs.

Please download Farbar Recovery Scan Tool and save it onto your Desktop. If your default download location is not the Desktop, drag it out of it's location onto the Desktop.

If we have to run Farbar more than once, refer this SS.

Note: You need to run the version compatible with your system. If you are not sure which version applies to your system download both of them and try to run them. Only one of them will run on your system, that will be the right version.
Double-click to run it. When the tool opens click Yes to disclaimer.
Press Scan button.
It will make a log (FRST.txt) on the Desktop.
The first time the tool is run, it makes also another log (Addition.txt) on the Desktop.
The logs are large, upload them using one of these. No time delays/Captcha-I'm not a Robot/account/registration needed. Give us the links please.

Open CCleaner, click Tools > Startup, then run thru the list of startup entries looking for something suspicious. Check what's listed under Scheduled Tasks & Windows Services too.

Try this as well but do NOT download anything: https://tinyurl.com/y6x9nv9n

Try running Malwarebytes with the "scan for rootkits" active. Then post the results again in a reply.

You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.

Did you download some software as a result of contacting the telephone number that you listed? This is a well known scam number so it is very likely that your system has been infected with a virus. You should follow the suggestions given above.

Always be very wary of any of these "support" telephone numbers. 99% of them are malicious scams. If you need support with any software you should contact the publisher not one of these rogue sites.

I used Farbar Recovery and it appears to have rectified this problem. I will also use the Edge Repair to make sure the problem doesn't reappear. Many thanks for all your suggestions.
