Windows Search via VBS 'not include'

July 15, 2010 at 12:47:13
Specs: Windows XP
Hello, I have folders with .xls invoices in them which look like: "LastName FirstName AmountOwed" and if a customer has paid I change the file name to "LastName FirstName AmountOwed PAID"

What I would like to do is search for invoices that DO NOT have the word PAID in them. Is this possible with windows search? (the one thats built in)

I currently have:
Set objShell = CreateObject("Shell.Application")
Set objFolder = objShell.Namespace("C:\")
Set objFolderItem = objFolder.ParseName("Invoices\2010")

And this opens up a search query, which I can put a customers name in and search for them.

What can I add to this to search (or a whole new .vbs) for files that dont have the word paid in them?

Thank you.

you might try using this as search criteria:
(as long as you always use two decimal places for cents
and there's not other files with two-character extensions)
i didn't see a way to do a "negated search" using the search-assist.

Sorry for the late reply, but thanks, that put me in the right direction. I did a search for ).xls and that worked fine.

Now the next problem is, how do a add that in to a vba search to automatically do a search (using the critera from the OP) with it looking for ).xls ?
