Solved why does LARS-WG5 keep on freezing?

Specs: Windows 8
My problem is that i correctly downloaded and installed the software,the first task is to do the site analysis...the program stops responding...

It would seem a possibility re' a bug...

Have you tried to contact the site tech support?

Other possibles to try... (unless you need to be online to run and test the programme) disable anti-virus app. and see if any better? Sometimes they are known to be a problem with some software?

Are there any error messages; does the app generate a log of its own?

Does your computer system fulfil the required specs completely?

I ask as the programme seems to be a weather simulation programme; and presumably it "would" require adequate RAM, and possibly the correct graphics display etc.; possibly a decent CPU too?

the pc i am using has an installed ram of 2GB, with a 2.10GHz processor...its dual core cpu which i think should be able to handle this,other weather generators like SDSM are functioning well except LARS..

mmm... I note it's a Canadian system to...; we do get "weather" (and it's changing too) there I know.

From the first section (0):

It can be run on a PC with Windows 9x/NT/2000/XP. There are no special requirements for memory size or disk space (note that 100 years of generated data takes 1.5Mb of disk space). LARS-WG requires little processing time for most situations.

Possibly as you're running it on win-8 that may be a reason for the freezing?

Not being familiar with win-8 (I'm on Mac systems and also quite happy with win-7 when I need a windows OS) can't advise on win-8 and possible compatibility modes; but is there anything like that in win-8 that would allow you run the programme in previous windows version compatible mode?

the software is currently upgraded to version 5.5 so that it runs in later versions of windows...i have tried running it on other laptops installed with windows 7 but the problem is still persistent...could this possibly mean there in a bug on the program itself?
the compatibility mode option is available as well on win8, i tried it still no progress

Thank you for the feedback... Useful to know for others who might find your question via a dreaded google search...

Incidentally - which a-v util are you using? It might be worth letting them know of course; and also possibly trying another too to see if it's OK with the app?

Hey! I am encountering the same problem, where the software freezes and doesn't respond after I start running it.
I disabled my antivirus app, as suggested; however, it is still not working.
But there is an error message generated every time I try to run the software.
So what would you advise me to do in this case?

Perhaps start your own (new) thread, as that way more people will read it and possibly respond...

Also post the details of your computer and the error message(s) you get with the programme (and clarify what that programme s).
