1. Create a new shortcut on the Desktop. (Right-click and select New/Shortcut.)

2. Type "cmd" in the "Target" field. Click "Next" and enter the name you want for the shortcut. Click on "Finish".

3. Right-click on the new shortcut and select "Properties".

4. Modify the field "Target" by adding "/k <batchfilename>"at the end (with a space before "/k"), where <batchfilename> is replaced with the name of the batch file that you want to run - unless this is in the destination directory you will need to provide the full pathname.

5. Modify the field "Start in:" to read "<directory>", where <directory> is replaced with the full pathname to the directory you wish to run the batch file in.

6. Click "OK".

7. Double-click on the shortcut to check that it works OK.
