Hello all.

i don't know if i should post this on lounge or programming forum, since this is not a technical question so i'll put it here.

i would like to know, if i'm going to develop an application using VS Express + MSSQL Express and then sell the application on various computer stores and online stores . is it legally allowed? are there any legal document i can read?or have anyone done it before?

thanks before
cheers

I think you are going to find it very difficult, if not impossible to write applications that are going to be distributed. VS Express was designed as a learning tool for hobbyists and students. The chances are that any application you develop will only run on a computer that has VS Express installed. You cannot expect users to have to download and install VC Express in order to run your application.

Any application you write I would first test on a computer than has never had VS Express installed.

Normally when you purchase a full version of VS it includes a distribution licence.

@stuart
i have developed several application and tried them on windows based pc's. they only need windows 3.1 installer and .net framework which is free. (CMIIW)

i'm just concerned about distribution license of my application. if i cant sell the app developed using VS Express + MSSQL Express, i'm turning to plan B

you can say this is a one-man software house, so i cant afford to buy VS license and SQL server license

@Xp User
yes i'm quite experiienced in software development and know the hardships on it :(
i have been using VS on my office for several years. but i don't want to use my office license to develop my app.

anw thanks for the link
cheers mate!

LOL i found it

http://www.microsoft.com/express/Su...

VS Express is freely available for commercial use.
i hope there isn't any loophole on any other legal document.
