You will have to provide more details to receive a meaningful answer. Which C or C++ compiler are you talking about? Details are vital.

If it is an old DOS compiler it is because 64 bit systems no longer support DOS.

With the name, I'm just going to assume he's a college student in India. For some reason, the Indian education system runs on Turbo-C++. No, I don't know why they use a 16-year-old 16-bit complier, either.

It came before C++98, and it probably won't support C++0x.

EDIT: I should probably add its 16-bit nature means it won't work on Win x64, which is where the industry is headed.
