Remove part of a file name

May 15, 2010 at 12:03:08
Specs: Windows Vista
Okay so my friend gave about 250 pictures.
But for some strange
reason he gzipped all the files individually,
then gzipped then all into
one. Anyway because he used java to gzip
each file they came out in
this format. 1.png.gz this part "1.png" is the
name and the .gz obviously
the file format being gzip. I heard it was
possible to use batch to remove
this part ".png" from the file name.

Thanks

Why? You should un-gzip them and leave the ,png extension.
So that the applications can open them properly

Because right now they need to stay gzipped. I hate how every
help forum out there someone always post's some comment
unrelated to my questions.

You could use a renamer application. They are several free
available.
