Specs: Windows XP, 2ghz 256
I am looking to ignore the first 5 characters of a string of text. My program selects any line with value greater than 11.99 in the 2nd delimiter. however the file it grabs has extra characters. For example my document reads

59001 12.00
59002 00.00

The actual file is named

I need the program to see the name minus all the random characters. or possibly search foa string inside each line in this case 59001. my code is as follow and does not work of course.

@echo off
mkdir Edit
for /f "tokens=1-2 delims=	 " %%w in (list.txt) do (
if %%x gtr 11.99  xcopy /f ****%%w******.jpg edit

Try the following

@echo off
mkdir Edit
for /f "tokens=1-2 delims= " %%a in (list.txt) do (
if %%b gtr 11.99 copy ?????%%a*.jpg Edit

by the way, why do you use xcopy?
