Specs: Windows 98
do i need to learn new commands other than the ones used with making a batch file text RPG in newer versions of windows (e.g. windows vista home preimum) and can i do it with notepad or do i have to use the DOS text editor

you want to make a game? Use a programming language , such as Python. You can use batch, but its not fun "programming" with it.

Aye, Batch really isn't meant for these kinds of things. It's a scripting language used to automate tasks.

However, I actually made a text rpg a while back, here is the link.
