JAVA and C, C++ programming on UBANTU(Linux)

Specs: UBANTU, 2.66GHz/1 GB
few months back I have started Using the debian based Operating SystemUBANTU which is a FREEsoftware. I have tried most of its featues and now I wish to migrate completely to it but one thing is lacking and that is Programming evironment.
I cannot figure out how to install JAVA on UBANTU and further so.

Any Resources or suggestions invited!!

There is probably a C compiler included with your version of Ubuntu, You should be able to find versions of most other programming languages.
