I would like to rename 1 file inside 1 folder using a batch script i.e.

ren xxxxx.xxx xxxxx.zzz

do you use quotes? "xxxxx "

You have to use double quotes if pathname or filename has embedded blanks or special characters.

and the xxxxxx.bat file is in the same folder. :o)

I downloaded and installed the Batch Rename .EXE 2 and a fatal registry error . . unstalled it and swepted my computer.

To rename a file, whenever it is located, you just have to type at prompt the command I posted. There is no need of any batch script or tool.
