How to start learning assembly language

Specs: Windows Vista Home Premium-32bit / Windows 7 Ultimate 32bit, 2.1 GHz / 3001 MB
Hello every one,

I want to learn Assembly Language but I don't know where to start from, and
what should learn before start learning Assembly Language.

And I want to also know, that what i have to have to do coding with assembly language, I mean am i have to have compilers, assemblers or what?

Is any API type of thing available for it, where I can write assembly codes, verify syntax errors and do advance compilation jobs??


And, can any one tell me about freely downloadable ebooks for assembly language (i.e. good for beginners), I mean direct web addresses.

Also, can any one give me some direct web addresses of freely downloadable ebooks for what i should learn before start learning Assembly Language (if should I have to) (i.e. good for beginners).


Can any one help me??

The Art of Assembly Language is a pretty good free introduction to Assembly Language. You might also like to look at Programming from the Ground Up. You'll also want to download the Technical Manuals for your processor from either Intel or AMD.

Assemblers are freely available (which you need depends upon whether your host system is Windows or Linux).

Try Googling for that title - you may be able to find it elsewhere (although I had no problem downloading it from that link).
