how to get user input for xcopy switches

Specs: Windows XP
Hello need to create a batch file to run under xp that will basically run Xcopy from and to set folders BUT using a date parameter supplied byu the user. My knowledge of DOS is very limited so would appreciate the help from anybody.

The problem with choice is you have to use a pre-canned set of values. The user can not free text. If you want free text then look to VBS.

Why does the user need to enter a date. Can you not work off of the current date?

Rob thanks for the reply. What I am trying to do is create an from a folder that contains hundreds of images that is constantly being updated, the extract will be run once or twsice a week to push new / changed images since the last run up to our website. hence the date input or is there another way of doing this?

use robocopy xcopy is trash
