how do i view specific adreses using net view

January 13, 2011 at 18:56:09
Specs: Windows Vista
I am trying to get addresses of all of the computers in my school network. when i use the net view command in command prompt there are so many computers that come up that i can only view a few, it is like so many come up that the ones at the top dissapear so i cant see them all.
most of the computer names start with ruhans-234-02 (not exact), but i know almost for a fact that all of the computers should start with PESJHS, not ruhans or many of the others. im thinking when im using net view its a bunch of different schools that come up. especially because my computer doesnt have near that many computers as what is coming up
i'm making a batch program that can send certain files or commands to all computers on the network. so any help would be appreciated related to my problem or program.
p.s. i have vista

I think you should be talking with your school's network administrator, especially if you plan on sending files to all the computers on the network. What you plan to do sounds like the making of something deviant.

You are correct about Command Prompt having a limited viewing space before the top lines get cut off.

well its somewhat deviant. me and my friends have like wars in the school sending shutdown prompts to each others computers and sending them to multiple people but let say we want to send a shutdown to all of the computers in the network or send a "file" to a teacher we don't like or just want to mess with. im sure i could find a list of the addresses somewhere but i thought id see what kind of feedback i got here
