How do i add to a name with command line?

Specs: Windows 7
I just want to change my file name from school.doc to newschool.doc. using the command line. Is that possible?

thanks, is it possible to take every file in a folder and add "new" to the front each file name?

Try this:

FOR /f %%a IN ('DIR /b *.*') DO REN "%%a" "New%%a"
