'hidden' attribute

Asustek computer inc. / P4S800MX

Specs: WinXP Pro, 2.2Ghz; 1Gb
Because of repartitioning, I wanted to change boot.ini
Having made it accessible with RUN; CMD; cd \; attrib -h boot.ini; and then edited it, I can no longer 'make it disappear', even though I have ticked 'hidden' in the Properties of the text file ! How can I restore invisibility ?

Try a full refresh by

cd \
attrib -R -H -S Boot.ini
attrib +R +H +S Boot.ini

I think you will find that next time you re-boot is will automatically hide itself providing you don't have show hidden files and folders enabled.

It makes no difference to the operation of the hidden files if the are hidden or not.

In future if you want to alter boot.ini you can do it from System Properties > Startup and Recovery and click edit. Saves all that un-hide/hide malarkey.
