I've installed gawk for Win32 on two computers, but when I go to the DOS prompt to try to run awk programs, the computer doesn't recognize any commands.

how did you run it? did you put gawk.exe into system32? or just some directory you created? If you want to run gawk.exe, use the full path, or just put into system32

On the XP machine in the office, i put it in my drive H:\GnuWin32\awk.exe

On my own machine (win7) it is in C:\Program Files\GnuWin32\awk.exe

At least on the Win7 machine, it's the path name with a space in it that's tripping me up. I can find awk.exe in windows, but can't maneuver around the C drive in DOS anymore. I tried C:\dir /x but it wouldn't recognize the command.

I realize my mistake at least on the XP machine the location is H:\GnuWin32\bin\gawk.exe

Any ideas on how to specify the path in Win 7

Thanks for your help!
