ok, im into making making maps for games and one particular game needs some serious shoehorning to get a full blown campaign map installed. I believe that batch files are the way to go and there is a question that needs answering before i can proceed,

when you install a game, you choose the install location.
i.e C:\Program Files\gamefolder OR C:\Games\gamefolder

i want my batch to move some files into a back up folder, and new files to the old location, then when i end the game i want it to restore things to how they were.

the main question i have right now.

how do i get my batch to know where the game is installed pls???

Im pretty sure the game has registry entries that could be used.
If possible it would be great to show how, with or without registry entries.

Seriously. No answer?

Im not asking for someone to write a script or anything, i just need to know if its possible.

alternativly, is it possible to have the user enter the location manually into the batch via the cmd screen and have it run as a variable or something.

I do hope you guys can help, i cant do this alone.
