Extract data/variables from a file name

Dell / Precision m90

Specs: Microsoft Windows XP Professional, 1.83 GHz / 2046 MB
I need to look at a file name & do the following:
1. If 'TS' exists in the file name, increment a counter
2. Parse the date in the file name that has the format of YYYYMMDD into 3 separate variables

I no little about VB so any help will be greatly appreciated!
