CTTY was a DOS command. As there is no DOS in Windows XP it isn't going to work.

What you have a command prompt which emulates some DOS command but not all. Especially those that communicate directly with the haardware like CTTY does.

I think ctty goes back at least to DOS 3.2 or 3.1

Hi, sorry to bring back an old subject but I was wondering, if I want to have something similar to CTTY COM1 but all I've got is Windows XP, is there any command or utility that can do this?

Windows XP comes with a Telnet server that gives the remote user a command prompt, but that only works through a network connection. Is there an equivalent that works through a serial port?

1st party: I believe only Hyperterminal will interact with the COM ports, but that's not script-able.

3rd party: I think PuTTY can do so, and it includes Plink, which is script-able.

Hi M2, sorry I've not been frequenting this site recently. I was out of the country last month and since I came back I've been inundated with work and haven't had much time. I am missing you guys and I hope I will eventually get on top of things soon.
