Specs: Windows XP
hi all,

hope someone can help me on this I have a single folder that has files with similar starting names but with different extensions

example - Current folder listing as below :

abc00.00
abc01.00
abc00.70
abc01.50

The script should change it to:

abc00.00
abc01.00
abc00.701
abc01.502

i need a script that will scan a given folder and rename "ONLY" the similar files ending different extension by apending incremental number to it.

thanks in advance.

Hi All,

after so much looking around and trying i came to the below incomplete solution that all you can help me on.

for %f in (*) do if not %~xf==.00 ren "%f" "i need something here to rename "%f" incrementally"

so again i have :

abc00.00
abc01.00
abc00.70
abc01.50

The script should change it to:

abc00.00
abc01.00
abc00.701
abc01.502
