All you need to know about VB6: It's dead. It died 8 years ago. The company that supports the language has retired it, and has come out with two OSes in the interim. VB6 has been replaced with VB.NET.

VB6 is not quite dead yet, there is still a huge base of applications out there, so much so that MS altered Vista so that is would run VB6 applications and probably the same with Windows 7. They thought COBOL was dead till the Y2K problem came along and COBOL programmers were brought out of retirement to fix the things.

However, I agree, VB6 is not a good choice if you are starting from scratch. VB.Net or something similar would be a far better choice.

If you absolutely must use VB6 then this is a good place to start.

Where you will get a cop[y of the VB6 development programme I have no idea.

Presumably from the school forcing the language on him.

It's a shame you're not offered a better language, like VB.NET / C#, or Python. Truth told, I'd take COBOL over VB6.
