Specs: Windows XP, don't know
I am technology deficient. Help. I need a PDA. Don't need a phone, wireless nothing. Just need an "assistant". It needs lots-o-memory. I need lots of color image storage capability, calendar capability, MP3 would be nice (very nice), typing, notes, whatever ... Don't necessarily need to play games, you know, need dictionary, the ability to create "files", as in folders for different clients to hold their information. Does this sounds possible? It absolutely needs to work with Windows XP, be able to hook to my computer at home, download, blah, blah. I wish I knew all the terms and buzz words but I don't. I don't want anything that I have to pay a monthly fee for. Just need an extra brain 'handheld'. A big good screen would be nice. Gosh, is there more info I should be giving, questions I should be asking??? Can you give me advice, at least advice about a pda????

Sounds like you need a palm one device but not the newer fancy ones, more like a palm Zire 31 has 16mb memory 16bit color a Sd card slot for extra memory works with XP, 160x160 screen, for a larger 320x320 screen you would be better of with the last Palm made with out a phone the Palm Z22 also the last Zire model. however they come with palm OS 5, basically you want a Zire 31 or later model, They all will play mp3s. the Zire 71 or 72 has a built in camera and can even take pictures with a 320x320 display. Avoid the Zire 21 it's gray scale. The Zire Z22 may support a bigger screen size I don't remember right off hand though.. All of them take Sd cards I think.. And after the Zire 31 you can even get a wireless wifi modem card that fits in the SD slot.. Only the Zire 31 which I have or earlier doesn't work with the wifi modem. They all will connect to XP, or Mac OS X using the Palm Desktop Software plus a usb cable and with an SD card you can get an sd card reader that will connect it to your computer like a pin drive and then just place the card into your palm or switch it back to you computer makes transferring files a breeze..

Hi I am also looking for a basic PDA. I am using it for what is called geocaching. I have found a refurburshed palm pilot M515 and was wondering if this was a decent model? and if people have had luck with refurbished models?

I don't know about geocaching is that like gps, if so you should get a palm gps device..

As far as the m515 goes it would be okay for a biginner device to learn what a palm device can do for you if it is cheap. I would buy it..

Palm m515
Palm OS 4.1
160x160 display
standard SD Card support up to 1gb

Here are some helpful links. to check out.

And anything else you need to know you should ask on the palm support forum. http://forums.palm.com/palm/

For a basic PDA with GPS functions I would recommend a Mio pda pocket pc - they're pretty cheap, look good and do the job.
