Hi,
To get round this – right click on the file and select properties. Next click unblock. If it useless try this app https://onlinefile.repair/en/word.html
It can repair Word document even if Microsoft Word unable to open.

Good luck

Try doing an Open & Repair:

Start a new instance of Word

Click the Microsoft Office Button,
Click Open

In the Open popup window, select the file that you want to open
DO NOT double click, simply highlight the file.

Click the down arrow on the Open button,
Click Open and Repair.

See how that works.

Where does the document originate from?

Did you create it on your computer or
did you receive it from some one else?

Are you still running Windows 8 or did you recently upgrade to Win 10?

If you upgraded to 10 see here:

https://support.office.com/en-us/ar...

If your still on Win 8, then you could try inserting the old data into a new doc.

Open a New Word document
On the Ribbon, select Insert Tab
In the Text section, click on the Down Arrow on the Object button
Click on "Text from File"
In the popup window, select your corrupt file
Click on the Insert button

or

Try to open the corrupt Word doc using Wordpad
