Word Doc via network share opens read only

Specs: Windows XP, Old Stuff
We have a few Word documents (docx) shared out from a folder on a server running 2003.

I have the folder permissions correct for our domain users but when I open the docs from a PC I always get a Read Only copy.

The sub folder it is in is Read Only but the docx itself is not. Any ideas?

Sounds like you don't have the permissions configured properly.
