Solved Windows Explorer crashes from email atachment

March 31, 2016 at 10:04:05
Specs: Windows 7, 8
When I right click on a file and send to an email, i get a message that Wiindows Explorer has stooped working and it then has to reset. This only happens when I try to attach the file by clicking on it. It does not happen when I insert into the email from within Outlook. Also, only happens the 1st time. Once Windows resets I can then even right click on the file and it with attach it. I am running Windows 7 professional on a pretty decent Dell Optiplex. I am running office 2016. Any ideas?

Can you clarify this routine? Where is the file when you right click on it; are you sourcing it via Explorer from within given folder etc?

I find a file on my computer. Sometimes its on my desktop, sometimes it in my picture folder, or my documents folder

See if this very handy, safe to use and often suggested here, utility will help resolve it the problem.

Do NOT use the big "obvious" download button at the top (right) of the screen. There are four download links/mirrors a little further down. Use one of those.

Let it run the whole gamut of test/fixes. It will offer to do most of them, including backing up the registry - which do let it.

Ideally (I seem to recall) t suggest safe-mode if possible. I have run it in normal mode and it did resolve a few problems for which I couldn't find solutions. Perhaps follow the sae-mode path if viable?
