Win Loss Calculation for 4 players

Microsoft Microsoft excel 2000 95/98/me/...

Hello,
I want to make a spreadsheet wherein there
are 4 players and who play against each other
and the no. of wins and losses (only the no.)
are recorded every time matches are played. I
want to know as to how do I do it (considering
that if A wins against B and if that result is
updated, then the column/row of B v/s A
should also automatically change)
I would be very grateful if someone could help
me out.
Thank you very much.

You can use an IF statement in one column and enter data in the other.

For example:

Put an L or W in Column B and you'll get the opposite in Column C. Anything else and C will be blank.

 	A	B C
1 Team 1 =IF(B1="W","L",IF(B1="L","W",""))
2 Team 2 =IF(B2="W","L",IF(B2="L","W",""))
3 Team 3 =IF(B3="W","L",IF(B3="L","W",""))
4 Team 4 =IF(B4="W","L",IF(B4="L","W",""))

I dont think I am getting what I wanted since I have 4 players
playing with each other a large no. of matches that have to be
updated everyday.
I hope someone could help me out better.
Thanks.

What have you tried so far?
Just exactly what is it your looking for?
What is the sport? With only 4 players, I would guess perhaps Tennis?

You could do somthing like:

Column A is for Winning
Column B is for Losing
Put the Name of the Winner in Column A
Put the Name of the Loser in Column B

then somewhere on the sheet you could do a =COUNTIF() function and get the number of wins or loses.

re: I hope someone could help me out better

Perhaps if you gave us a better explanation of what your spreadsheet looks like, we could "help you out better".

Based on what you asked for, if A wins against B and if that result is updated, then the column/row of B v/s A should also automatically change, the IF statement offered fits those requirements.

The "better" job you do explaining your requirements, the "better" job we can do helping you meet them.
