Why wo't drop down lists won't work in Excel 2010, or 2013.

Specs: Windows 7
However, and this is odd, if I open the sheet in WPS the drop downs work fine. I thought, good, I'll save it, did that, but they still don't work in Excel 2010 or 2013. Then if I open it with WPS, the dropdowns work fine. Any thoughts??

Well, to start with, "they still don't work" is very vague description of the issue.

Keep in mind that we can't see your workbook from where we're sitting, so "they still don't work" doesn't give us much to work with.

Do they not appear as drop downs, i.e. no arrow to click?
Does the drop down arrow appear but not present a list when clicked?
Does the arrow work but all you see is an empty list when clicked?
Are you not able to chose data from the list, assuming that a list appears?

What exactly do you mean by "they still don't work"?

The cursor turns into an X. The box where the list is shows up, but it does nothing.

Just an empty rectangular box that doesn't respond whatsoever. Nada. Nothing.

They, well, they just don't work.

Thoughts? Suggestions? Answers?

I don't use WPS, so I can't set anything up to test.

I'm still confused. You say "The box where the list is shows up, but it does nothing."

When I use a drop down list, the "box where the list is" doesn't show up until you click the drop down arrow. So what I am picturing is you moving your cursor over the drop down arrow, clicking it and having an empty list box show up.

If that's the case, I don't quite get the The cursor turns into an X part. When does that happen?

If the drop down arrow is working but the list box is empty, that would indicate to me that the range that the drop down is referring to is empty. Have you gone into Data Validation in Excel and checked to see what range should contain the list and then checked that range to see that it actually contains data?

The box is there, the arrow is there, when you place the cursor over either, it changes to a small x and nothing happens, no drop down, just an empty single line rectangular box with an arrow on the right end. It's incredibly unusual. We did the data validation but it shows blank. The user who created the spreadsheet is going to recreate from the original information, so I no longer need a solution, but it stumped our Excel expert, and all of our outsourced support staff, I haven't found an answer anywhere, so we'll just call in unsolved. Unfortunately we are under HIPaa regs so I can't send you the actual spreadsheet. Thanks for your efforts

Other than the cursor changing to the X, the single, empty box is what you will get if the data validation range is empty.

I don't know what you mean by this "We did the data validation but it shows blank."

I asked this earlier, but I'm not sure you have answered it:
