Solved Why is the Word Document shortening when sent in Outlook

Specs: Windows 10
When sending a Word document named fully and saved on my desktop, it is not sending the same naming convention in Outlook. It shortens it and ends with ...doc.

How many characters are in the filename? What does the recipient see as the filename?

Doing the best I can here... And remember, there's always more than one path to success. :)

How are you attaching the file? I believe there's a character count difference between clicking "Attach File" or dragging/dropping a file into an email. When you drag/drop, the location of the file (filepath) counts toward the character limit.

For example: If a file on the desktop is named LPierce823_Word_Document.doc & you attach it using "Attach File", the character count would be 28.

But if if you drag/drop it into an email, the entire filepath counts toward the character limit.
In other words, C:\Users\LPierce823\Desktop\LPierce823_Word_Document.doc, which is 56 characters.

What kind of "Outlook"?

outlook.com?
Outlook as part of the Office 365 suite?
Outlook as part of the desktop Office Suite?

I've seen outlook.com do some strange stuff with document names.

In some cases, I've "printed" a Word doc to a pdf creation app and saved it under a completely different name. When I emailed the pdf to someone who received it via outlook.com, it came in with the original Word document name but with the pdf extension.

I was really confused, thinking it was something I had done, so we sat down with his laptop next to my desktop and tried it a few more times. If I emailed a pdf to him and he looked at it with Outlook under MS Office, it came in with the name I assigned to the pdf when I created it. If I emailed the same pdf to him and he looked at it with office.com, the original Word document name was retained. Multiple documents did the same thing.

Very strange.

Thank you riider!

I actually found that when I attached the file instead of dragging it into the email, it worked! I appreciate all the great responses and quickness to my challenge. Have a wonderful day to come all!
